April 20-26 (Writing) Nature Paragraph

Hi Grade 2 students,

The last few weeks, you have spent some time in nature paying attention to the sights, smells, sounds, and how things felt outside. You also had a chance to come up with a list of descriptive words related to your nature walk.
This week, your task is to write a descriptive paragraph (this assignment is designed to take a few days)

* I can write a paragraph with a beginning, middle, and ending.
* I can use descriptive words to enhance my writing.
* I can edit/revise my work.

1. Please watch the video of instructions in the Google Classroom
2. Use the transition words and sentence starters for the beginning of your sentences
3. Check over the no excuse spelling words when you go back to edit
4. Use the success criteria to check that your writing is on track
5. Once you are finished, please TURN IN your paragraph on Google Classroom (You can choose to type on the document link, or you can print by hand your paragraph, and upload on Google Classroom.

Please try your best - and have fun!

Review and select a fluency goal to work on while reading out loud.

-I can select a reading fluency goal and work on developing that skill
-I can create an audio recording of myself speaking with a clear voice, with appropriate volume, at an understandable pace and/or with expression while reading out loud

Steps:
1.  Watch the this video to learn how to record yourself reading on Raz Kids: https://youtu.be/NamYBvu8c4Y
(Last week, this was "OPTIONAL" - so, if you have already seen it, move onto Step 2)

***PLEASE NOTE****: if using Raz Kids application (i.e. on an iPad) watch this video: https://youtu.be/ft2YDdidU_8  (video attached below)

2. Choose a reading fluency goal to focus on for when you read and record yourself on Raz Kids.
(Review from last week if needed - see video link below: https://youtu.be/xvzg4q_RwII).

3. Select a book from home or from your Raz-Kids account. Then, practice reading it out loud several times with your fluency goal in mind.

4. Record yourself reading that book on the Raz-Kids for your teacher to review your fluency progress.
Be careful not to select "new" (blue box with a circular arrow) unless you want to DELETE they recording you made, and re-record a new audio file.

5. When complete, select "Mark as done" for this assignment on Google Classroom and state your fluency goal in the "Private Comments" for your teacher to see. Watch the video below on how to send you teacher a private comment.
