Welcome to Grade 2!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Hello, my name is Weston Sandberg and I will be your grade 2 teacher for the 2019/2020 school year at Royal Oak. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
Last year at Royal Oak School, I taught grade 3. The previous year, I taught Grade 2 the previous year. I recently graduated from the University of Calgary with my Bachelor of Education in May 2017. I specialize in elementary social studies and STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Prior to teaching, I worked as a researcher at the University of Calgary, developing STEM activities for K-12 education, which include coding, robotics and 3D printing. You can access my Twitter account at https://twitter.com/Mr_Sandberg and please subscribe to my teacher blog at http://mrsandberg.blogspot.com/?m=1.
I am also a musician and former guitar teacher. I have over a decade of experience playing guitar, bass, and drums in various bands. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology from the University of Calgary, where I focused on primate evolution and prehistoric human migration. I was born and raised a Flames fan in Calgary and currently reside in the inner city with my wife, two daughters, and dog.
I am very excited to have this opportunity to teach your children and will strive to do my very best. I strongly believe in maintaining open lines of communication. Please do not hesitate to contact me; I will do my best to respond as soon as possible. My email address is wjsandberg@cbe.ab.ca.
