Week in Review

Terry Fox Run
My goodness the kids are fast! I'm going to be sore for a week from trying to keep up with them. Thank you for all the Toonies for Terry donations! Ask your child how many laps they completed. Thanks to all the volunteers that ran with us, provided snacks and kept track of laps!

Math
This week we have been collecting data and graphing that data in Bar Graphs. We then took our data and graphs and thought up some questions that we could ask and answer.

Rocks and Minerals - Geology

We brought in our own rocks this week and categorized and described them based on colour, size, shape, weight, and smell.

SLA Practice
We sent home a notice about the Grade 3 SLA's today, please check your students folder. This week we also did some practice for the up coming SLA's that all of Grade 3 will be participating in. Here is a link to take the practice assessments:

Scratch Jr. - Coding and Literacy
Students got their first taste of coding in grade 3 today with some Scratch Jr. coding. Scratch Jr. is an app that introduces students to coding and builds their problem solving skills and various literacy and math skills. This app can be found at the AppStore and here: ScratchJr.

Wee Reads

We are a  Calgary Reads School and we are looking for VOLUNTEERS!
Calgary Reads offers several school-based reading and tutoring programs for young children. And we need your help. Each program relies on volunteers to make them successful. Visit www.CalgaryReads.com for more information about how to get involved.
Volunteers must have a valid police check completed with the school’s office and need to attend training provided by Calgary Reads. You also must have experience with Wee Reads prior to taking Read-Up training.
* If we have enough parents interest we can run a Wee Reads training session right at the school! *
If you’re interested in volunteering please reach out to our Resource Teacher, Heather Mitschke athmmitschke@cbe.ab.ca
