Thank You Parents and Students!

I have had a an extraordinary four months so far. Thanks for all of your support, involvement and excitement about our school year. We have some exciting things approaching in the New Year, such as our Open Minds Tinker School in early March, as well we are going to begin a Robotics and Measurement unit in early January!

The Robots Are Multiplying!

In the first week back after holidays I will be building more robots so that we can begin a robotics unit. If there are any volunteers who would be interested in helping to assemble some LEGO robots in the New Year, please email me at wjsandberg@cbe.ab.ca Each one takes about 30 - 45 minutes to assemble so any help would be greatly appreciated. We will be using robots to explore and compare standard and non-standard measurements. We're going to program some self-driving cars to navigate a simple pathway. 

Literacy

This past week, we have begun to explore synonyms in literacy. We have been challenging our kids, when reading, to switch or trade a word that makes sense. I hope the students get a nice break from school, but I strongly encourage every student to continue reading daily over the break.
