Inquiry
We have begun to investigate a community in the past, by looking at and considering what Calgary looked like in the past. 

Students first sketched a picture of what they thought Calgary looked like 100 years ago and then sketched a picture of what Calgary looks like today. 


We then looked at photos of Calgary that spanned from 1912 - 2013 and practiced making observations, making predictions, and asking big questions.

Literacy

We are currently reading "James and the Giant Peach" and students have been sketching along while they listen to the text. We are currently on Chapter 15, if your child has missed any of our readings, you can find the audiobook here. Please don't read ahead. 


We also did a written reflection on what we have read so far the questions students answered were:

1. Why do you think James belong in the Giant Peach?

2. Make a prediction: What do you think is going to happen next in "James and the Giant Peach"?

Math

We started a math inquiry unit based on the book, "the Masloppy Family" Students have started to make an inventory of various items in our classroom. Students are using their own strategies to sort, group, and count some of the materials in our class.

Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run is schedule for tomorrow, Friday, September 27th at 11am. Please dress in layers and bring a water bottle and appropriate footwear.
